Fyodor Golan catwalk show report for LFW S/S 2016

Fyodor Golan’s new SS16 collection brought a whole new meaning to the term futuristic as a collaboration with Transformers saw models fill the British Fashion Council Show Space wearing bold geometric prints clashing with feminine shapes and cut-out patterns. Neon brights, houndstooth repeats and reworked illustrations came floating down the runway demanding attention, giving a modern take on retro futurism. 

 

Playful adolescent aesthetics and bold and soft-colour combinations created a striking image along the runway whilst all over prints with a silicon finish, reflected the Transformers artwork of the early 80s. Feminine shapes in the form of halterneck tops, and skirts with thigh high slits, were infused with clean, geometrical silhouettes and sportswear aesthetics in the form of metallic mini dresses.

 

The designers stayed true to their roots with clean lines but played with textures with the addition of fringing, ruffles and glitter mini dresses. Robotic inspired houndstooth patterns in hues of green, blue, yellow and red were present throughout the entire collection, but were contrasted with playful metallic tops and glittered embellished dresses. Floral prints were emblazoned on silicon outerwear and a heavy dose of tulle, ruffles and sequins kept the collection fun and flirty.

 

Textured metallic eye make up and neon daisy-printed platform sandals echoed the shoes of a Japanese geisha but they completed the playful robotic aesthetics of the show, perfectly representing retro futurism.
