Autumn trends for your home
The leaves are turning and the cold is setting in. Autumn is in full swing and all around us pullovers and cardigans are being pulled out of wardrobes. Your home might be due an autumn makeover too. Here are some easy tips to create a cosy feel for fall.
Cushions
Autumn calls for cosy comfort and a quick way to insert some of that comfort is by adding some cushions to your sofa. Sofas are often a central piece of a home and cushions are a great way to play around with your décor. Cushions with geometric shapes in warm oranges and greys or something more bold like soft faux fur will liven up your living room.
Throws
To complete the look of your sofa simply add a snugly throw. Nothing is better than coming home from a long, cold day and relaxing on your sofa under a warm throw. From fleece to knits, find a throw that is up to your liking in off -whites or an eye-catching tartan print. Blankets and throws also look fantastic draped over an armchair or in a wicker basket.
Rugs
A rug can really tie a room together. Instead of something simple, the ultimate autumn rug is rustic. Thick faux furs and sheepskins or – for the ultimate cabin feel – a cow hide.
Accessories
The easiest of all ways to give your home a makeover is to play with accessories. Candle holders can make the light playful and create an instantly warm atmosphere in your home. Metallic trays in copper and bronze tones give a classy look to a simple coffee table. Stained glass vases look great on your windowsill. Try filling them with pot-pourri as the dark colours perfectly mimic crisp autumn leaves and the spicy smells adds that extra hint of warmth to your home.
Pumpkins
We couldn’t miss pumpkins on our list. Whether it’s a terracotta pumpkin or an actual Jack o’lantern, the pumpkin is the perfect accessory in the days leading up to Halloween. Making your own pumpkin carving is not only cheap and easy it is also incredibly fun to do.
