Hollywood Film Awards 2015: Best dressed
All the biggest stars of the silver screen were out to celebrate the 19th Hollywood Film Awards, held at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Awards were won, speeches were spoken and outfits were worn – here’s our pick of some the stand-out looks on the red carpet.
70s icon Jane Fonda turned heads in a white Balmain jumpsuit with a cross-over bodice exposing a mesh camisole and just a hint of midriff. The high-waisted pants below were dramatically tiered and ruffled, lengthening her figure for a flattering effect – not bad for a 77-year-old.
Reese Witherspoon also went for an all-white option, choosing a chic and simple Haney dress with an intricate, asymmetric hem. A pair of gold Saint Laurent heels and jewellery by Irene Neuwirth finished the look with just the right amount of glamour – perfect for keeping it classy on the red carpet.
Also keeping it simple was Selena Gomez, who opted for a pale pink Narciso Rodriguez gown with a very low, scooping neckline – it had something of a pretty, 90s-grunge vibe. The young star was on stage to present an award to comedian Amy Schumer, who also went for a low-cut dress, this time in black. Schumer, who won the Hollywood Comedy Award, wore a classic black cocktail dress with a boldly contrasting white hem.
And Amy was not the only one putting a modern twist on the LBD. Actress Alicia Vikander chose a mid-length black dress from Louis Vuitton, the leather bodice contrasting with the soft bubble hem.
Carey Mulligan, who won the Hollywood Actress Award for her role in Suffragette, bought a touch of sparkle to the style classic in the form of a black Erdem cocktail dress with a tiered skirt and cross-halter neck. The slight sparkle in the fabric was mirrored in her black and silver Baila Spike pumps from Christian Louboutin and her diamond earrings.
Actress Amber Heard took the sparkle factor up a notch in the form of a shimmering jumpsuit by Temperley London. With its plunging neckline and flattering, figure-skimming silhouette, she exuded vintage Hollywood glamour and grace.
Saoirse Ronan also shone in gold lame, wearing her beautiful Lanvin dress with a cream-coloured blouse to receive the New Hollywood Award for her role in Brooklyn. Quirky yet classy, it was the perfect sartorial choice for the young actress.
As for the gentleman, dark navy seemed to be the favourite. Channing Tatum wore a Dior Homme two-button suit in the colour, which he complimented with a white cotton dress shirt and a navy satin tie.
Jake Gyllenhaal was also looking dapper in navy, pairing his sleek Tom Ford suit with a matching tie, whilst Johnny Depp went for a three-piece suit and his characteristic fedora.
