DAKS autumn/winter 2016 collection catwalk show for LFW
This season DAKS treated us to a lavish, evening wear collection; the kind of evening wear you can actually wear on an English evening. The silhouettes were as slick as the low buns styled on each model’s head, lightweight chiffons and georgettes were used to create fluid shapes that moved with the wearer.
Strong, structured shoulders offered stability to the looks and hinted that the DAKS woman is more empowered than in previous seasons. Her signature accessory is a luxe trilby, tilted just so, or the DAKS bag which comes in only one style but a number of colours.
Spring’s Victoriana trend leaked over into autumn/winter as lace panelled blouses and ruffles tumbled the full length of dresses. Though the palette remained mostly black, burnt orange and sunrise yellow appeared in various shades and textures,. An anniversary check was debuted, too, in celebration of 40 years of the DAKS signature print. Here is a brand well on their way to heritage status; heritage for the modern woman.
