After winning Fashion Scout’s Merit Award, David Ferriera made his London Fashion Week debut with his Opulent Child. The press release claimed the collection “reflects on today’s overindulgent society”, and overindulgent it certainly was.
Miles of fabric trailed behind models as they walked down the catwalk in gravity defying bubble skirts. Fur, sateen and tulle dyed in red and pink ensured opulence was evident in every piece.
Taking inspiration from Mean Girls, The Pink Ladies and Scream Queens, Ferriera was aiming to create his own modern day clique. We’ll call them the Couture Girl Squad – watch out Taylor Swift! The ultimate #squadgoals moment occurred in the finale when one model’s train was so big and heavy that it took three fellow models to carry it.
