Forward PR AW12 Press Day
Forward PR showcased a brilliant array of designers and their forthcoming collections at their press day yesterday; it was an opportunity to see a fantastic selection of fashion. AW12 collections were shown by Jasper Garvida, Jaida Hay, SDY, Euphorik, Corrie Nielsen, Magenta and Emma Yeo at the academy of freelance make-up.
As I was shown around the collections, I got the chance to see them up close and in perfect detail. Jaida Hay’s simple and clean cut collection used relaxed lines, draping and wrapping for uncomplicated, but effective style.
Jasper Garvida used dark and dingy tones for a glamorous and stylish outcome. Black dresses were twinned with gold detailing in the form of embroidery and chains whilst tones of blue and brown merged together in jackets. The patterned, gold button-up dress was the real attention grabber – the pattern and cut stood out above the rest.
The second collection by footwear designer Selam D Yohans for her label SDY was packed full of textured dark tones, all in luxuriously decadent fabrics such as python and horsehair. With statement convex heels for a strong shape, the collection had a definite confidence and boldness about it.
Euphorik is the first collection by designers Alexander and Roman, made from fine wools, extra fine jersey, cotton poplin, viscose and bamboo silk. This collection had a timeless feel, but with a touch of flavour to spice up the classic style; a more contemporary approach was taken with interesting pocket placement and silk used for detailing.
The theatrical collection by designer Corrie Nielsen was full of volume and brilliant madness with huge bold checks and tartan being the main ingredient.
The powerful, birdlike headwear designs by designer Emma Yeos were made from laser-cut wood and were delicate, structured and striking – simply beautiful.
The AW12 Magenta collection by designer Giovanna Velasquez fuses British military tailoring with the idea of natural confidence and inner beauty. Baby alpaca is used for softness in tones of brown, cream and black to create a range of charming boleros and jackets.
After musing over the selection of intriguing and refreshing creations by designers presented by Forward PR, I even got to look around the academy of freelance make-up and look around the fantastic, striking make-up they do there.
All in all, these rising stars are certainly ones to watch – fashion has never been an industry that stands still and this is thanks to original designers introduced to the market by Forward PR.
