Rejina Pyo autumn/winter 2016 collection presentation for LFW

For autumn/winter 2016, Rejina Pyo drew inspiration from the concept of women through the ages displaying similar dreams and aspirations. 

Designs combined practical functionality with a signature of originality. Strong looks, full of character, utilised crisp cotton, heavyweight twill and weathered leatherette to create exaggerated structures. At the same time, soft crêpe accentuated with coloured stitching, darting and button detailing provided a stark contrast.

Wearers were encouraged to personalise pieces: one dress had a removable, covered shoulder to allow for an optional sleeveless look. Trademark 3D pattern cutting was also prevalent in the voluminous sleeves of cotton tops and dresses, as huge pieces of fabric covered arms in one impressive sweep.

Pops of scarlet and cobalt on cuffs and side panels offered a welcomed injection of vibrancy to a predominately earthy colour palette. Meanwhile, the concept of landscape photography took play, with printed t-shirts featuring Pyo’s own body of work adding a touch of the designer’s personality.

The entire collection was complemented by sculptural footwear and accessories, made in collaboration with Korean brand Yuul Yie and London-based jewellery label URIBE.
