All vegan and 100% Lush: Pampering event
A pampering session at Lush: what more could a girl ask for? Seated with a warm cup of organic green tea in one hand and a silver bowl full of delicious, chocolate-scented “cupcake” facial mask in the other, it was hard to decide whether the rich mixture would feel better coated thickly on the skin or tickling the taste buds with sweet chocolate goodness. Apparently, it was designed as an indulgent skin treat although I was assured that, given the fresher-than-fresh natural ingredients, it is pretty much good enough to eat!
The pampering event was organised courtesy of ethical fashion brand Bourgeois Boheme, a London-based company that combines high quality fashion with a vegan twist. Bobo’s fabulous range of footwear and accessories is both super-stylish and eco-friendly, providing customers with ethics-conscious fashion that is affordable and fresh.
By no mere coincidence, the event was hosted in style by the lovely people at Lush, who pampered our socks off and promoted their products with pride. As well as being incredibly friendly, the staff at Lush really know their stuff and are more than happy to explain exactly why their products are so fabulous. Here’s a run-through of the products used during the event, but there are so many more. Next time you’re in town, make sure you pop into Lush and expect to be wowed!
All-vegan Lush products:
9 to 5 (£4.50, 95g)
This lovely and light facial cleansing lotion removes make-up like a dream, feels fresh and soothing on the skin and smells of delicate honeysuckle and ylang ylang. Perfect for a quick morning pick-me-up with no fuss and no nasties.
Full of Grace (£7.95, 20g)
This solid facial serum is packed with precious Amazonian butters and rose water to moisturise and hydrate the skin. Full of Grace contains absolutely no preservatives whatsoever. With fresh, vitamin-rich Portobello mushrooms and a blend of essential oils to calm and treat the skin, this little bar of serum works wonderfully as a night cream and is great for use before face masks.
Cupcake (£5.75, 75g)
Preservative free, fantastically fresh and literally good enough to eat! With linseed to nourish and soften the skin, peppermint for toning, cocoa butter to moisturise and rhassoul mud to absorb excess oil, this sweet-as-chocolate face mask is absolutely divine. Stored in the fridge, the masks can be used a couple of times a week to deep cleanse, restore balance and put a smile on your face.
Tea Tree Toner (£3.75, 100g)
Stunningly refreshing and perfect for hydrating, balancing and protecting the skin, this toner water is genius in a bottle. With the perfect concentration of antibacterial tea tree oil, grapefruit and juniper berry water to refresh and tone the skin, Lush’s range of toner water is ideal for removing traces of cleanser and can also be used when you’re out and about as a refreshing facial mist. Top tip: pop a bottle in your handbag next time you’re travelling by plane and mist over the face for instant in-flight freshness and hydration.
Gorgeous (£37.50, 35g)
Famously linked to the beautiful Princess Diana, Gorgeous is Lush’s ultimate face cream and certainly lives up to its name. Using only the very best, most effective ingredients in nature’s store cupboard, this lusciously light facial moisturiser contains orange blossom honey to soothe and hydrate, organic pineapple, lemon and orange juice to help keep the skin matte and six natural plant oils that leave skin feeling light and soft. Beauty fit for a queen that sinks into the skin perfectly.
Colour Supplement in dark yellow (£7.95, 20g)
My newest make-up must have. With a beautifully rich consistency, these little pots of magic conceal blemishes, tone down redness and give skin an even, flawless finish that is as light as air and natural looking.
Formulated with red rose petal infusion to calm redness and glycerin to encourage the skin to absorb moisture, the colour supplements can be used as a foundation, tinted moisturiser and concealer. For a lighter, dewy complexion, mix a small amount of colour with your favourite moisturiser, blend on the back of your hand then apply evenly to the face. For more concentrated coverage, apply the colour straight on to the skin where you need it and cover the odd blemish with a dab of product on your fingertip.
Black Stockings (£7.50, 30g)
This body tint bar evens out skin tone and adds a natural, sun-kissed glow to darker skin types. With a blend of brown and bronze pigments in a rich cocoa and shea butter bar, Black Stockings is fabulous used on bare legs when you want a bit of subtle shimmer and a warm glow whilst keeping the skin beautifully moisturised and super soft. Fragranced with orange oil and pimento berry by Latin singing sensation Shakira, the skin tint bar is also fantastic for adding a hint of colour to your face. Simply heat the bar between your fingers and blend into the apples of your cheeks. For those with paler skin, you might prefer Silk Stockings instead for a rosier glow.
