Stella McCartney confirms menswear label
Stella McCartney is set to debut her highly anticipated menswear collection in November at an exclusive fashion showcase in London.
After months of rumours and speculation circling through the fashion grapevine, an official announcement was made by the fashion designer during her visit at the prominent menswear tradeshow Pitti Uomo in Florence, Italy.
The new collection of apparel and accessories will incorporate Stella McCartney’s eco-friendly ethos. Rather than following the traditional menswear fashion show calendar, the debut of this particular collection will follow the newly popular “see now, buy now” business model and will be available at selected retailers right before Christmas time.
It comes as no surprise that McCartney has decided to expand her product range by tapping into menswear considering that her womenswear garments are known for emphasising masculine tailoring and oversized silhouettes.
“The desire to marry the Stella woman to a man has been inside me since the very beginning,” according to McCartney.
Additionally, noteworthy also is that the designer’s initial roots date back to men’s tailoring. Alongside studying at the highly praised Central Saint Martins, McCartney was working as a tailor apprentice on Savile Row.
“My time on Savile Row inspired so much of what I do, and it feels like the right moment to talk to men and give them what they deserve. I want to deliver to men what I deliver to women.”
Besides the upcoming launch of her menswear range, McCartney is also going to be a busy bee this year with various other collections to be released. This summer alone she will debut her swimwear line as well as latest fragrance POP. Furthermore, for the 2016 summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, team Great Britain will have the honour of wearing sporting gear exclusively designed by Stella McCartney.
Whilst tackling animal rights and environmental issues with her forward-thinking approach towards fashion design, it will indeed be interesting to see what additional projects Stella McCartney will have in store in the future as well.
