Keeping up with the Joneses launches pop-up at Clerkenwell Green

Fancy something a bit different this weekend? Then head down to Meredith Collective’s wacky new addition to the London pop-up scene that ticks all the boxes for a unique and bizarre evening out. This themed cocktail bar offers an immersive experience, inviting guests into the larger-than-life Jones’ family home, tempting them with a selection of household-themed drinks and snacks along the way. We went to the launch last night to check out what all the fuss is about.

The welcome couldn’t have been warmer as we entered the kitchen of Mrs Jones, and, after a delicious round of canapés and detergent cocktails, found ourselves beckoned through the fridge and into her weird and wonderful home. One bubble fight, one pillow fight and several edible washing tablets later, and we were presented with Mr Jones (sporting nothing but a bathrobe) and his music room, fully equipped with strokeable speakers and two equally as strokeable spaniel puppies.

The journey to the bar itself was as novel as it could get, and gave the impression that we were travelling far from the reality of work and humdrum everyday routine. The zen garden, the washing powder snowstorm and the Bang and Olufsen’s sound lounge felt like they were tucked a safe distance away from the outside world. A generous variety of tasty cocktails, some served directly from a washing machine, could be found at the heart of the household, and fellow guests created a warm and merry atmosphere.

A home far away from home, Keeping Up with the Joneses is an escapist pop-up experience that will leave guests with a permanent gin toothpaste-infused smile and some hazy dream-like memories of the experience. Now’s the time to snap up tickets as this surreal bar will disappear as fast as it popped up.
