Gigi Hadid for Max Mara AW16
She is already one of the most recognisable faces in the world, and now model Gigi Hadid is also the star of Max Mara’s fall 2016 accessories campaign.
This is the second time that the 21-year-old model has worked with the luxury Italian brand, the first being in fall 2015 when she appeared as a contemporary reincarnation of Marilyn Monroe in both their seasonal campaign and catwalk show.
This time around, the campaign sees her in front of the camera of Steven Meisel, who is himself making something of a return to the brand having shot the likes of Stella Tennant and Linda Evangelista for Max Mara in the past.
Photographed in Meisel’s New York studio, Hadid sports a subtly bronzed look courtesy of make-up artist Pat McGrath, with gold-dusted eyelids and nude lips complimenting her nonchalantly tussled wet-look hair. Her “natural”, glamorously carefree look provides the ideal counterbalance with the sleek, luxurious aesthetic that characterises Max Mara’s latest range of accessories.
Most notable of these, perhaps, is the Whitney Bag, designed in collaboration with the Renzo Piano Building Workshop and first presented last year in homage to the Whitney Museum in New York. With its distinctive heat-welded ribbing and rendered in a rich aubergine hue, the piece stands out beautifully against Hadid’s black fishnet dress.
The campaign also sees her sporting the JBag calfskin shopper with its striking two-tone shoulder strap, along with a covetable pair of white-tipped retro-style sunglasses.
Alongside Max Mara, Hadid is continuing on her mission to take over the modelling world with new fall campaigns for both Stuart Weitzman and Versace.
