50 Days by Albert Adrià in talks for London comeback
50 Days by Albert Adrià was met with a rapturous reception when it opened in February, offering English diners a chance to sample the sort of stunning gastronomy which brought the Adrià brothers to fame. Now The Upcoming can reveal that Adrià is in talks to return to the capital for another 50 Days style event.
He may be known to many as an integral part of the award-winning team at El Bulli but Adrià has more than escaped from his brother’s shadow in recent years, opening a number of critically successful restaurants and projects, including Tickets – number 29 in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2016 list – and 50 Days by Albert Adrià.
A pop-up project in Regent Street’s Cafe Royal, the first 50 Days dazzled guests with a variety of technical dishes, including some old El Bulli favourites like The Olive-S, an intense burst of loose olive paste bound within a thin alginate shell (a technique known as spherification). Not that it was all the Spanish and Asian influences for which the chef is best known: plenty of dishes clearly took note of English culinary heritage, with his take on a shredded oxtail pie enough to bring a tear to any patriotic eye.
News of the chef’s possible return is sure to delight food lovers throughout the capital so whilst nothing is confirmed as of yet, eager diners will want to keep their eyes peeled for developments and the inevitable rush for tickets.
