FLT Moda spring/summer 2017 collection catwalk show for NYFW
All white is something that parents usually stray away from with young children but the interior of FLT Moda was white and sleek. Popular pop music blared through the speakers and happy parents, spectators and children sat ever patiently awaiting to see the future of children’s wear. Long gone are the days of strictly hand me downs and basic t-shirts. The shows at FLT Moda presented by Samsung is connects technology, and children’s fashion to eager parents.
The crowd wasn’t the only buyers and media but full of people that were ready to buy. The catwalk was two levels, which for child models as young as one was not as easy as some adult models get to walk down but the children were amazing; they walked with grace and held their heads high, strutting up and down in couture ready for their next play date.
The afternoon was comprised of four designers, all showing the latest in the booming world of children’s wear. Each designer was different in their own way and showed a different perspective but all designers were on the same page of ease, young, playful wearable looks. Opening the first show was Chelsea Werner, gold metal Special Olympic Winner.The inclusion with children with disabilities ranged from children with down syndrome to children in wheelchairs.
The first collection, Lele et Gigi was a French girl in Manhattan inspiration. The designers attention to detail was strong from head to toe. Each model had a handmade paper hats in several intricate designs such as the Eiffel Tower, Poppies and a bird nest complete with blue robins eggs. The materials ranged from linen, tool, tweed and more. The cohesion was in the inspiration of a traveling young girl.
Moka Collections was both for girls and boys, and had a grownup take to children’s clothing while maintaining their innocence and playful mentality by sending the children down the runway barefoot. The subtle colored collection easily able to be played in a certain sophisticated way. The boys all wore shorts and blazers, while the girls had iridescent skirts and dresses with movement and back details.
Aisa Bobo spring/ summer 2017 was simple and elegant. The timeless, classic but adorable dresses and pant suits would work in any situation in any location. Each look was as if an cool Parisian mom effortlessly dressed her child and was ready to take on the world. Any child of any age, height, weight, background would look radiant in each look. Blu and Blue was true to it’s name by sending an entire collection of blue. Each look was a different type of denim. From dresses, to button downs, to onesies each look was unique. Some looks were straight denim where others had a great deal of detail such as flowers or patterns. The age of the collection ranged from infant to adult.
