Georgine spring/summer 2017 collection catwalk show for NYFW
Georgine presented their spring/summer 2017 collection on Wednesday afternoon at the Skylight at Clarkson Square. The luxury womenswear label was founded in 2012 and has several seasons of New York Fashion week under their stylish belt.
Georgine’s latest collection started on a sweet note: the inspiration was a letter to the designer’s mother. The collection took the idea of a younger woman raiding and remixing her mother’s high-end pieces for her younger, edgier style. Inspired by the designers own past, the collection also had a lot of 90s nostalgia that has repeatedly been seen across the runways this week.
Slip dresses reigned supreme often paired with trench coats in a variety of fabrications including metallic and lace trimmed. Beautiful three-dimensional beading adorned skirts giving them a rich update. While there was a punk spirit, it was undeniable how luxurious the garments were.
The styling also played up the 90s influence and added a youthful vibrancy to the show. Models wore choppy bobbed wigs (mostly in a bleached-blonde color) with baby bangs. Makeup was minimal with the exception of a bright red lip while nails had a bit of a goth edge-long brightly colored nails with black french tips.
The pieces were a wonderful mix of updated classics and edgier of the moment trends. Much like the idea of of a mother and daughter sharing a closet, it was easy to imagine that these beautiful pieces could be styled differently to work for a variety of women.
