Noor by Noor spring/summer 2017 collection catwalk show for NYFW
Paying homage to nostalgic romance, the Noon by Noor SS17 collection was largely inspired by the designer duo’s travels, drawing reference to flowers from their native Bahrain as well as sunset shades. The overall colour palette included iridescent shades of gold, shimmering whites and salmon pink, built up with a mix of layered tulle, rich embroidery and plenty of transparency.
Whilst some of the models donned loose, liberal pieces, others were in lightweight garments that were just fitting enough to hug their petite frames, occasionally suggesting a hip or thigh curve through movement; overall sensual but undoubtedly edgy.
From long, fluid macs, silk rompers, bralettes and flowing, floor length dresses to mesh bombers, delicate slides and slippers, the pure simplicity of each piece teamed with the boldness of embellishment and effective tone on tone accents made it an extremely uniform collection, with each piece smoothly transitioning into the next in an almost nostalgic manner. The garments captured a whimsical essence very often seen in lounge or nightwear, proving that fashion doesn’t always have to mean “pain” or “discomfort”!
The duo behind the Noon by Noor brand are known for their modern, effortless pieces particularly emphasising on intricate embellishment and underrated luxury. This could perhaps be inspired by a fusion of their Bahrain heritage alongside western influences picked up during their time studying in the United States.
The show certainly did well in supporting the modern woman who was encouraged to continue dressing in classic pieces, without having to sacrifice her flirtatious, feminine edge. Besides dreamy, fluid whites and antique gold’s, bold, black collaborations such as the 3/4 pants teamed with a black crop top and sheer, button-up shirt on one model offered the founding inspiration for the perfect work outfit.
