N&S Gaia spring/summer 2017 collection catwalk show for LFW
N&S Gaia by Sidharth Sinha presented a wonderfully colourful collection today at Freemasons’ Hall for London Fashion Week. A contemporary label best known for their use of up-cycled and sustainable fabrics, N&S Gaia constantly strive to find new artisanal crafts and techniques that they can incorporate into their own designs.
A collection comprising primarily of dresses, the overall feeling of the spring 2017 show was one of elegant, luxurious exoticism. The colour palette was richly varied, moving from pastel pink to electric turquoise, and then onto slightly more earthy tones finished with vibrant details.Silhouettes were either long and column-like, or shorter and loose-fitting, often with soft folds and abstract appliqued details. The occasional cropped trouser was teamed with longline tunics or shirts for a breezily contemporary look. Two bodysuits – one dusty pink, one black – were worn beneath flowing kimono-coats that moved fluidly around and behind the body. The final few pieces were characterised by prettily intricate flowers and butterflies, hand-embroidered with a technique used by the Garo tribe in North East India entitled Dakmanda. Such embroidery added a traditional element to more avant-garde shapes that included a sculpted dress with wide, cape-like sleeves, as well as a shorter design with rippled folds at the waist.N&S Gaia SS17 is easy glamour perfectly suited to a sun-drenched poolside in a distant land.
