Lu Yang spring/summer 2017 collection catwalk show for NYFW
Yang Lu presented his spring/summer collection for Lu Yang at Art Beam fashion week on 12th September. Yang started his brand in 2013 in China and has gained critical acclaim there. Now he is bringing his modern line to international audiences.
Strong minimalist shapes with bold colors ruled the runway. The show started out with outfits made from a combination of matte and patent leather in bold almost pop art inspired strips. Yang used stark white to contrast the primary colors playing up their bold hues.
Yang also had updated versions of shift dresses with colorful geometric designs that made the classic shape feel young and fresh. There was also a bit of a sporty appeal to the looks, particularly a modern white dress with pleated skirt and graphic red stripes.
Yang kept the styling simple. Models hair was pulled back in a sleek, wet-look style and the women’s faces were unadorned aside from a single red line running down the center to emphasise the strong graphic quality of the garments on the runway. The models wore white sneakers which played up the sportswear vibe.
Yang aims to dress women in clean but unique styles that fit into a busy woman’s modern lifestyle. These cheerful but unfussy garments accomplish that goal and would make a very wearable addition to the wardrobe for the American market.
