Lucy in Disguise goes to the Cuckoo Club
Last night The Upcoming’s favourite pop-star-turned-fashion-designer Lily Allen and sister Sarah Owen hosted a party to promote their fashion line “Lucy in Disguise” at the Cuckoo Club on Swallow Street, London. The 90s were back with vengeance at the Cuckoo Club last night as guests were treated to a disco-ball vibe and an LED sparkly arcade-like ceiling, described by Amelie from Division Music magazine as “super sparkly with a sparkly disco floor and sparkly DJs.”
The entrance to the basement was filled with a very glittery lady in a stunning cocktail glass – Dita Von Teese eat your heart out – and the cocktail waitresses were breath-taking, decked out in their PVC black shorts with white pussy bow blouses.
The floor was of a geometric design and adorned by a pink tinge and lots of crazy moves. The dress code was heels, heels, heels with a Will Smith vibe entwined with denim and logoed t-shirts, and I did spot a great peach vintage dress (think Kate Bush and you are halfway there).
Music was from Infinity Ink and Miguel Campbell. The DJ Stage was set with West-End lights spelling out “Show Time”. Infinity Ink did what they do best: an outer-space take on garage, with a twist on underground house. The bass-line pounded out but the melody was not lost in the beat and the music made you want get crazy; the remixes were original and new. Our prediction is that Infinity Ink are set to be on the music production scene for a good while yet. Miguel Campbell stayed true to his roots with house music, famous for producing music via his own record label Outcross; he has a natural talent for developing new and experienced artists and it was great to hear this through the decks.
