DIRTYloves launch party: everyone had to be there!
Do you ever feel that you have just stumbled across the next Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen or Andy Warhol? Have you ever wondered if you have just shaken hands with someone who you are going to beg to be their muse, their inspiration? That is how I felt last night at the DIRTYloves party, and I cannot wait to share with you one of the greatest experiences of my life.
As I walked into DIRTYloves party, a smile crept across my face: cupcakes, fashion, sweets and vodka, I was a little bit sold already. The cocktail list compromised three items: Scarlett Martini, Russian Standard Vodka Topic and Apple Martini. The Scarlett Martini was my favourite, containing raspberry, so very healthy!
DIRTYloves is a lifestyle brand; however, it goes further than just fashion and sex toys, it is the modern version of the punk movement. This label brings a sexy edge to fashion, promoting quality at affordable prices with the entire brand coming in sizes small, medium and large.
I was lucky enough to have to get a lengthy chat with Tomo Kembery, Executive Creative Director, the buzz behind the buzz, the man who has brought us playsuits, tights, sex toys, popping candy at DIRTYloves.com.
Tomo, was dressed in cute jeans, his own T-shirt and a great Lego brooch; the ladies loved this creative Essex boy! I really liked his enthusiasm for the brand and was impressed by his creativity. DIRTYloves’ T-shirts are fabulous – a must have this season.
DIRTYloves’ dream has been to “mix fashion with sex and kitsch, a full lifestyle brand.” As always, I wanted to know more, so I asked him what was next and Tomo answered: “more girls’ T-shirts in three to four weeks, the samples are almost ready, and sunglasses!” The Upcoming had to ask where the creators see DIRTYloves in ten years time and if their ambition was a wish to rival La Senza, Ann Summers, and Agent Provocateur by hitting the high street with affordable, good-quality underwear, currently created in the Philippines and the UK. And… DIRTY Couture is coming too, you heard it here first! DIRTY Couture will be focused on limited editions.
Tomo seemed a designer that you could really identify with, his creativity met normality, as he told The Upcoming about “baking cupcakes at 4:30am for the launch” and “running off to Tesco’s to get extra butter for the frosting”.
Tomo was described there as Alan Sugar The Younger, fully embracing the idea of a lifestyle websites, selling not only fashion but “concert tickets, sexy parties, so much more than websites such as Love Hunny”. The promotion was of a brand that is all encompassing in a cool way and aimed at the 18-25 year olds.
The Upcoming was also lucky enough to talk to Timmi Norman, Danish hair-stylist at Kennadys, Ingatestone. He is about to launch his own line of hair products with DIRTYloves.com. This is so new, the name hasn’t been decided yet! Timmi Norman, lover of tartan and the 1920s, and another creative genius behind DIRTYloves.com, gave The Upcoming his latest style tips on hairstyles and how it is becoming the thing to be “sculpting hair ”.
Honouray are stocking their T-shirts exclusively with DIRTYloves.com which feature glamour models in pin-up styles; their use of famous glamour models – such as Hayley Sams – who already have a huge social-network following, was a shrewd move for a guaranteed fast promotion.
Tomo and Timmi are set to take the fashion world by storm, as everyone who was anyone was there last night; it was also great to talk to the blogger from dovilemusic.wordpress.com who is set to be the gossip girl for London.
