For better or for worse: Things to learn and habits to change
Scenario one – you come home from a wonderful night out on the town with your girl pals. You are far more intoxicated than the average evening. “I deserve a little wining and dining now and then!” you tell yourself. You change into your pyjamas and crawl into bed exhausted and ready for sleep. You wake up in the morning to see foundation stains on your pillow. You walk over to the bathroom only to see your eyeliner and mascara smudged. It is an image you would rather not remember.
Scenario two – think back to when you were first getting your facial hair removed. You were teased and called hairy. To avoid this situation you decide to get your eyebrows plucked. The lady is finished and asks you to take a look in the mirror. You scrunch up your nose as you think your eyebrows are still too bushy. You do not seem satisfied till all that is remaining is a fine thin line; sadly by this time you grasp the fact that you may have gone overboard.
Scenario three – you are in a hurry to get ready. Your friends are waiting and you’ve just jumped out of the shower. You start to apply your makeup and glance over at your shimmer and shine eye powder. It is old. You are not sure how old. It has definitely been lying in your makeup bag for about two years. But, it’s the perfect bronze colour that matches your off-white dress, bronze clutch and accessories for the night. “Oh what the hell… this one time should be ok”, you reassure yourself. A few days later your eye is puffy.
Scenario four – you are in a hurry again to get ready for the night out that’s been planned. This time you have just come home from work. You do not even have time for a shower. You take your makeup kit from this morning. You forgot to clean the brush you used to apply blush and decide that this one time it will not make a big difference. You do few touch ups here and there and run out the door. Few days later you take a careful look at your skin, as from out of nowhere pimples have appeared.
These are just four of many simple mistakes women tend to make when it comes to make-up. You can easily avoid each and every one of them.
The key to putting on makeup is removing it when you no longer need to wear it; is the correct solution to scenario one. Scenario two is to keep in mind that trends come and go, but your face will not change. Ensure that your eyebrows are complimentary to the shape of your face and do not heed any unwanted attention. As to scenarios three and four, they concern the usage of clean and non-expired products on your face.
Keep in mind you have one face. Respect it, do not abuse it.
