Ane Amour autumn/winter 2017 collection catwalk show for NYFW
Ane Amour’s autumn/winter 2017 collection was presented in a sun-filled studio at Pier 59. Titled The Daughters of Artemis, it was inspired by the goddess of the hunt who is also traditionally seen as a protector of women. The show was a homage to strong women from start to finish.
Designer Iyala Anne composed a collection filled with dark shades reminiscent of a forest at night. One of the most prevalent colors running through the collection was purple, often paired with black which gave a strong moody vibe to many of the looks. Anne also incorporated multiple tonal prints to create an extra layer interest on some of the garments.
The designer showed a full range of clothing from day to night as well as a smattering or outerwear perfect for Artemis. While some of the clothing evoked the theme of the show in a more literal way-such as a black hunt coat paired with faux leather pants-others took a more subtle approach like a lace skirt with a floral pattern giving a nod to nature.
The styling of the show mirrored the strong thematic feel of the huntress. The looks were styled with disheveled braids and dark ombre lips that helped to play up the the fierce femininity that inspired the collection as well as the idea that the modern woman is strong, even in this time when some women’s rights are in danger.
