Charli Cohen autumn/winter 2017 collection presentation for LFW
Exploring the common obsession with mobile phones, and especially social media, the Charlie Cohen presentation has a clear street sensibility to it. Incessantly liking Instagram pictures, we are consumed and overpowered by this endless cycle.
Consisting of safety harnesses with “CONSUMED” and “CC2S” printed all over them, the garments are as much a commentary about consuming fast fashion as it is about social media overload.
As the models were also make-up free, it was also a sort of social commentary on our desire to look a certain way in order to be presentable. All these aspects made the presentation full of themes and references but it didn’t feel confusing, on the contrary; it was clear and straight to the point. The Charlie Cohen garments are ones to treasure and to keep, and they don’t only fit into contemporary street culture but also represent the views of the wearer.
Men wore pastel blue outerwear fastened by suspenders and sweatpants, while women were in elongated black slip dresses paired with white long sleeved tops and pastel puffer coat dresses.
