Alice Archer autumn/winter 2017 collection presentation for LFW

Glowing, natural skin completed with a stamp of pink lipstick summed up Alice Archer’s autumn/winter 2017 presentation. The designer’s floral collection was sprinkled with the colours of a summer bouquet oozing the best nature has to offer.

Intense pinks and emerald greens were the biggest colours on offer, with the palette being cleverly adopted from that of the peony. Silk and chiffon in these colours were contoured across the body in the form of robes and long-sleeved maxi dresses proposing a overall grandeur. The use of delicate hand embroidery and carefully placed patterning – for which Arched is so renowned – fused the concepts of opulence and gentility.

Patent loafers and brogues in matching pink and pastel hues added to the glamour of the collection, offset by ruffles and on occasion gingham, which bought an exciting edge of naivety to the occasion. This adolescent sentiment was made more prominent through printed jeans featuring different portrayals of flowers. 

A standout piece was a sheer lace dress presenting connotations of the whimsical, dreamy ideals of a warm English summer. Embroidered with cream flowers and finished with balloon sleeves and Victoriana neckline, images of historical dress were conjured and brought into more contemporary designs.

Archer’s creations contrived a version of beauty that celebrated nature both in its inspiration and aesthetic, planting the seed for a brightly coloured, modern interpretation of the English rose.
