London Fashion Week 2011: Sass & Bide
Sass & Bide’s launching of their SS12 collection down the runway created an instant buzzing atmosphere. The show was held in the glamorous and light-filled Royal Opera House, and they lit up the first day of London fashion Week with a beautiful summer collection as bright as it is bold.
They presented another season with a mash-up of extreme colour, texture and folds.
There were plenty of geometric shapes with embroidered silver sequins at every angle. Letterbox-red silk chiffon dresses with sequined sachets strutted down the runway one after the other. The entire collection screamed a clean, fresh sophistication for the high-end label. A trio of classic pale mini-dresses followed. One asymmetrical dress featured an enormous wrap of fabric built up on the shoulders.
A simple cream silk dress with splits sliced in to the back, sides and front is elegant, reminiscent of Lanvin. There were also a lot of Aztec-style embellishments and statement necklaces that were made out of vivid neon-coloured materials. Sass & Bide presented extra shimmer, sequins and metallics in their SS12 collection; they made bold statements against the blacks, reds, golds and blues.
Poppy Delevingne, Diana Vickers and Peaches Geldof perched on the front row, while Julia Restoin-Roitfeld waited behind the scenes to see the clothes after missing the start of the show.
