Natasha Zinko autumn/winter 2017 collection presentation for LFW
Natasha Zinko’s autumn/winter 2017 presentation was full of fun, bubblegum colours and 80s pop. The designer continued to build on the playful elements that are so essential to her brand, and carried over the bright, optimistic pink from her spring/summer collection.
Zinko took a the focus away from denim this season, still featuring jeans in an 80s cut and double-up waistband, but for her autumnoffering, she shone the light on heavy wovens, playful knitwear, patent leather and faux fur.
There was a hint of athleisure in the short pink running shorts worn over black leggings, and in the soft lilac tracksuit that was paired with a minty fur jacket. Zinko upped her tailoring game with sleek, broad-shouldered coats, a silhouette that carried over into a checked cropped jacket with decorative buttons that was paired with a lovely pair of lilac peplum trousers. The checked wool was perhaps the fabric that grounded the upbeat collection the most, and it might have looked to sweet and a tad too conservative had it not been for the leather and vinyl Zinko threw into the mix.
In between dotted pastels were sharp, peg-legged patent leather trousers, clashing beautifully with an off-shoulder, cropped ruffle jumper in pink and yellow. A leather skater dress in black stood out against all the colours, but the flared skirt very much retained that playfulness Zinko plays with so well.
Apart from bunny pins attached to Angora cardigans and white, retro trainers, the one thing to take away from this collection was undoubtedly a pair of kitten-heeled furry slippers that have every potential to reach iconic status by the time they hit the shop floors.
From the speakers, Cindy Lauper crooned Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, and they definitely will with this collection.
