Jurassic Kingdom opens in London

If you’re feeling brave this Easter, head to Jurassic Kingdom: Where Dinosaurs Come to Life, which presented its ferocious inhabitants for the first time at London’s Osterley Park last weekend.

Having set up camp in the picturesque woodlands, a total of 30 or more life-sized dinosaurs and flying reptiles can be found lurking amongst trees, perched on canopies and wading through the lake. As these monsters roar wildly and engage in mortal combat, onlookers are warned to keep at a distance for their own safety.

This exciting trek uncovers a variety of animatronic dinosaurs, such as Triceratops, Raptors and a towering Tyrannosaurus Rex, measuring 18 metres from head to tail. In between spotting their favourite species, younger adventurers are encouraged to pick up their brushes and become palaeontologists in the excavation scene, where a T-Rex skeleton is hidden beneath the surface.

Further along the route stands an education marquee, aimed at school groups and families. Here, BBC documentaries, running 30 minutes in length, provide in-depth information about how dinosaurs lived millions of years ago.

For an additional fee of £5, visitors can also embark on an exhilarating virtual reality experience. Put on a headset and sit back in a simulator chair as the game of your choice propels you into another world – whether it be an interactive battle against the dinosaurs or a computer-generated roller coaster ride.
