Join the Summer Jubilee celebration at Alfies antiques market
Because the Queen can do whatever she likes, her birthday is celebrated in June even though Her Majesty was born in April. Her official birthday is marked in the summer, and this year, it falls mid-way between two very special events: the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics.
To commemorate the occasion, Alfies Antique Market will host a very special evening on the Queen’s official birthday Saturday 16th June, celebrating London’s rich history and diversity through the world of antiques. Since 1976, the Marylebone market has been a treasure-trove of antiques and retro goods, from vintage fashion to mid-century furniture. The beautiful art deco facade, rooftop café, plus the 75 specialist dealers who trade there, make it vintage-shopping heaven. Voted one of Time Out’s 100 Best Shops in London, Alfies has attracted serious collectors, interior designers and celebrities for over 30 years.
The Summer Jubilee is a wonderful opportunity to explore London’s largest in-door antiques market in a new way, learn about the antiques trade and celebrate London’s landmark year.
Customers will enjoy live music and afternoon tea in the newly opened Roof Top Kitchen. Also on offer are special guided tours of Alfies to get some tips from expert antique dealers who will share their wealth of knowledge of the trade. Tours will run throughout the day at scheduled times – learn about colonial furniture from the 1930s, vintage luggage and pick some insider tips on buying and collecting.
