Five beauty essentials to take abroad
Now that it’s summer all we can think about is one thing: holidays! So, in honour of all of you jetsetters, we have written the ultimate packing list. We know how difficult, tedious and boring it can be to pack for your holiday, so this is a list of our top five beauty must-haves which need to be in your backpack, bum bag, or whatever else you plan on taking.
Sunscreen
You probably read that sub-heading in your head and just gave us the biggest eye roll. Because obviously you would pack sunscreen, but do you have face sunscreen? Gone are the days of just throwing the Nivea your mum has lying around into your suitcase. The sunscreen you use on your body should not be used on your face – that is our life lesson for you. The formulas of sunscreen lotion tend to be far too heavy for the face and can clog your pores and turn you into an oil slick, which as we all know may lead to acne. But you need your SPF, an SPF that you can trust, and one you feel comfortable putting on your face frequently.
Recommended product: Ultrasun: Face SPF 30 (anti-ageing), £18.99, Superdrug
Hydrating mist
A downside to many of our hot summer destinations is that the heat tends to be a bit on the humid side, something we aren’t really that used to in the UK. The perfect way to avoid this is to carry around a hydrating mist in your purse to spray over your face whenever you feel like a little pick-me-up. Many of the mists on the market don’t really do much other than hydrate, however, our personal recommendation is infused with essential oils which not only hydrate, but also acts as a protective layer against the varies elements in the air.

Lip and cheek stain
It’s hot, you’re on holiday, and the last thing you want to do is cake yourself in make-up, and that is where a lip and cheek tint comes in handy. These lightweight, small, multi-purpose godsends will make you wonder why you never invested sooner. It’s a great way to add a little bit of colour to your face without having to spend loads of time piling on make-up. Our personal favourite is the holy grail of them all. It’s a buildable stain which is light to wear but a beautiful pigmentation – and a little will go a long way.

Nail file
Now there may be a bit of confusion with this one, but we have one product in mind, which might have the potential to save your holiday manicure. While gels and acrylics are amazing and last forever, we can all agree that they don’t leave your nails in the best state. So if we were to revert back to good old fashioned nail varnish, we highly recommend L’Oreal’s Magic Mani. Essentially, you find the colour which is closest to your nail varnish, and as soon as you seen a chip, just colour it in with the handy pen. Magic Mani is fast drying, easy to use, and even easier to transport.

After-sun
This is another obvious one, but we promise you won’t be wasting your time reading this. The after-sun we want to recommend has bronzing agents in the formula, so it’ll not only help cure your burns, but also should add a gradual bronzing boost to your skin. It’s okay, you can thank us later.
