Qasimi spring/summer 2018 collection presentation for LFWM
Set on a desert of nylon, Qasimi told press that the brand’s SS18 collection titled Free Fall is a “yearning for simpler times in response to today’s bombardment of information and technology”. Referencing the Bedouin tribes of the Middle East, this presentation mixed traditional craftsmanship techniques with the modern technology seen in modern military parachute fabrications. This contrast between the old and the new resulted in a comfortable yet practical looking uniform.
A desert army colour palette of sienna, thyme, khaki and granite is complimented by pale blue, mint stripe, rhubarb and pomegranate. Nylon cargo pants and cargo flares made for an interesting take on a dad-style military classic. These love them or hate them pieces were shown alongside ruched lightweight bombers and pull over jackets, creating billowing parachuter silhouettes.
Cosy looking striped piqué, jacquard and waffle detailings prepared the desert attire for chilly evenings, and large drawstring sacks a perfect for all of your worldly possessions.
This technologically advanced take on a non-military-military style has brought an edge to a theme we’ve seen a million times before, mixing practicality with modern style.
