Nina Tiari autumn/winter 2017 collection catwalk show for NYFW
Nina Tiari perfectly described the modern woman who encompasses individuality, power and strength. She effortlessly transposes these ideals into wearable attire for women of today by experimenting with different textural elements, contrasting colour choices, and bold prints in each distinct look. Although they are vastly different in comparison to one another, these looks all share the same idiosyncratic vibe which exudes the might that women behold.
On the surface a pair of burgundy pants paired with a blue leather jacket does not sound too extravagant and avant-guard. However, when examining the details of the pieces, one realises that there is much more than meets the eye. The pants are a luxe, textured burgundy, and when the light hits this material, shadows and highlights are created, which create a pattern of sorts. The leather jacket is unconventional because it is, in fact, a tailored suit jacket with a bold but understated cheetah print. Tiari was able to create a look full of different varieties, and yet she is able to keep the compositional cohesion in tact.
The edge of previous looks is toned down with the dress that incorporated both a sheer, rose-printed bodice with an intense drop waist, red satin skirt. Not only does this one again show Tiari’s ability to work with different mediums in harmony, but it also shows that the designer can provide different perspectives to what it means to be a woman. Through this piece she offers a more romantic idea of the nature of women. The sensual sheer fabric with detailed roses displays a softer tone; however, there is also an intense passion for the concentrated colour and weight of the red satin. This heavy fabric is surprisingly still able to flow freely, which again plays into the capricious nature.
Tiari’s collection embodies the whole gamut of femininity and radiates the individualistic spirit of every woman. Through the use of the various materials, shapes and colours she is, in a way, able to personify the diversity of womanhood.
