Alice Archer spring/summer 2018 collection presentation for LFW

Alice Archer presented her new Spring Summer 2018 collection with a design concept based around Sicilian lemons, however the collection was far from sour, including sweet elements like beaded Pom Pom trims, cherry embroidery and delicate feminine fabrics.

This season’s collection favoured a colour palette of navy, white, yellow and pale pink and all of the pieces are inspired by the beauty and innocence of an orchard and a trip to an organic Sicilian lemon farm. With models sat amidst vibrant lemons and various picnic baskets of fruit, it comes as no surprise that over sized lemon print featured on Alice Archer’s signature silk kimono in navy and was paired with structured trousers and a crisp white shirt which also featured the design.

Bright lipstick and slicked minimalist hair did little to detract from the day dresses, silk linen suits and silk printed separate pieces Archer delivered. High necked gingham was layered with tulle and embroidered cherries in the form of a maxi dress that highlighted Archer’s favouring of feminine yet incredibly detailed pieces.

Archer was intending to convey the fun and inquisitive feminine style and this was made further prominent through the use of fruit motifs – cherries, strawberries, grapes and lemons – which appeared bright yet delicate when combined with silk satins, gingham, silk jersey and also silk linen. A standout piece which connoted Archer’s talent was a pink structured double breasted suit which featured white embroidery and was paired with fuchsia shoes. The bright pop of colour from the shoes and the hand embroidery made this piece identifiably Archer’s.

Archer cohesively brought together sculptural new shapes like maxi dresses and wide-legged jumpsuits with the design elements of a summer spent on fruit farms adding not only to the theme of innocence but also to a notion of finding beauty even in the simplest of things.
