Markus Lupfer spring/summer 2018 collection presentation for LFW

For spring/summer 2018, Markus Lupfer continues to showcase his talent though the use of vibrant colours and abstract patterns, along with an expected dose of playfulness and charm. A backdrop of white balloons spilling from the ceiling allowed visitors to fully immerse themselves in the experience – and, in turn, get a little lost within the designer’s world.

A sense of traditional Hollywood glamour was updated with a contemporary tropical twist, highlighted by Lupfer’s beloved prints and over-the-top embellishment. Midi dresses in rich emerald and cobalt colourways were adorned with motifs of monkeys swinging from vines, while sheer organza overskirts added a sense of naughtiness to elegant dresses.

The fun didn’t stop there: sequinned rainbows were appliquéd on platform heels; swirls decorated oversized sunglasses; jewelled parrots adorned earlobes. Glittering blush-pink 3D flowers topped skirts and shirts, which were modest and mischievous at the same time.

Elsewhere, graphic prints were paired like modern-day twinsets, in the form of 70s wallpaper florals and a psychedelic interpretation of Lily of the Valley, as laser-cut skirts and cropped trousers were teamed with sporty chevron knits, creating a preppy aesthetic.

The Markus Lupfer girl is the epitome of cool, and certainly wouldn’t look out of place lounging by the pool in Palm Springs, with an umbrella-topped drink in hand.
