NARS x Erdem make-up collection revealed
Possibly one of the best kept secrets of the beauty world, it was announced ahead of the Erdem AW18 show that the fashion designer would be launching a make-up collaboration with NARS.
Erdem Moralioglu has been one of the fastest rising stars on the fashion scene for the last few years, becoming notorious for his designs flushed with florals. The collaboration with NARS has fittingly been named Strange Flowers, but there is nothing “strange” about this collection. The Canadian and Turkish designer is renowned for his representation of dark, eerie romance in looks that are undoubtedly feminine. His venture with NARS is no different…
Capitalising upon NARS’ quality products, this collaboration between the make-up moguls and Erdem is punctuated by flowers in a variety of purple hues, perfectly emulating the designer’s feminine ambience. The collection features a 13-piece selection including two eyeshadow palettes, a lip powder palette, a blush, highlighter, six lipsticks, blotting papers and one lip bullet.
NARS ditched their signature black packaging in favour of more delicate white-blue casing, illustrated with an abundance of “strange flowers”. Products were given similar exquisite names, such as a selection of six lipsticks with names like Moon Orchid and Carnal Carnation.
An iridescent highlighting pencil, adeptly named White Phox promises to leave a pearlescent shimmer upon one’s skin, applied in a creamy precise manner due to the bullet shape. The Night Garden is a darker take on eyeshadow, one that you’d expect from Erdem. Midnight blues, purples and golden tones are unsurprising, but the addition of shimmery green and pollen-yellow it screams Erdem.
The real stand-out though? The lip powder palette. That’s right, lip powder. Speaking to Vogue, Erdem said he knew from day one that he wanted to feature a lip powder in the collection: “I love the effect of the stamped-on, really matt red lips. They remind me of my mother who would always wear a red lip as a sign that she was ready to go out and face the world.”
The NARS for Erdem collection will be available exclusively at Selfridges from April 15th.
