Pierre Marcolini presents new chocolate collections at The Ned
What could be better than an exclusive chocolate tasting on a Tuesday evening? An exclusive preview of Pierre Marcolini’s spring and summer collections is certainly high on the list.
The renowned Belgian chocolatier not only unveiled his seasonal products at The Ned, but has also returned to his original passion – patisserie – a skill for which he was crowned world champion in 1995 before turning his creative expertise to the cocoa bean. His daring and innovative collection of 11 desserts – available this April – look vibrant and impressive, and come in a variety of bold flavours: from exotic fruits to hazelnut. The one ingredient tying the entire range together is, of course, chocolate – a nod to Pierre Marcolini’s main love.
The summer 2018 range – available from June – is just as beautiful and mouthwatering. A particular favourite is the sleek Melove Cake, which comes in three flavours, each including a creamy marshmallow filling, a crisp biscuit and a delicate layer of coloured chocolate. The Maison will also be selling tangy fruit pastes, fragrant macarons, a range of ice creams and ice lollies as well as the brand’s iconic selection of chocolates.
As if the look and taste of his products were not enough, what makes Pierre Marcolini sweet treats all the more special is that they are all crafted by hand, and the eponymous confectioner himself oversees almost the entire process of creating a chocolate – from bean to bar – a rare undertaking for a celebrated chocolatier. All products are made by the owner – who, like a star, posed for pictures with his fans – and a dedicated, talented team who zest three tonnes of lemons and shell 15 tonnes of almonds each year in his workshop. The stories and journeys behind each chocolate and dessert make them all the more special – whether as a gift to a loved one or a gift for yourself.
