Ten handy holiday packing tips
Although it’s meant to be a supremely relaxing experience, going on holiday can be extremely stressful. Okay, maybe not the sipping cocktails by the pool bit, but the planning ahead certainly can be! Especially when it comes to packing. What to take, how much, what can you really live without?!
Here are ten handy tips to save you space, save you time, and save you from needing a holiday before your holiday.
Save space
Traveling with a friend? Share a hairdryer, straighteners and any other appliances you definitely don’t need two of. Decide who is bringing what and you’ll both free up some space for more essential items.
Stock up on essentials
In some countries, beauty items such as razors can be hard to come by. So, if you’ve not booked in for a wax and you’re not one for the natural look, be sure to take a pack with you.
Prepare for spills
Choose a make-up bag with a plastic lining. Let’s face it, as painful as it is, accidents do happen when traveling. Powders get smashed, lotions leak… A plastic lining will make an unwelcome clean up a little easier.
Make a list
Work down from your hair all the way to your toes listing all of the products you’ll need with you. Making a list this way will make sure you don’t miss any products you use in your daily routine.
Multi use products
A multi-purpose lip and cheek stain or a eye shadow come highlighter will be a valuable space saver!
Protect precious cargo
Glass perfume bottles or very expensive make-up can be put inside your socks and then packed in to your shoes to act as a protective case for your most prized possessions.
Plan your wardrobe
Plan out your outfits before you go. You can easily make a ton of different outfits from a limited amount of pieces in corresponding colours.
Roll up, roll up!
It’s an oldie, but a goody. Roll up your socks, pants, vest tops, and anything else small and thin. You can stuff these bits in between the gaps of your other larger items leaving more space for dress number 30 that you just can’t be without!
Hydrate
Drink water, yes. But also make sure to hydrate your skin with a good moisturiser before and after your flight as it can really dry out when you’re up in the air.
Don’t panic
If it does turn out that you’ve forgotten something, let it go. Unless it’s all of your money or your passport, nothing is so important that it’s worth spoiling your holiday over. Have a great time!
