Jazz up your favourite drinks with Benares’ cocktail-making masterclass
Benares, the iconic Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in Berkeley Square, are launching an exclusive cocktail-making masterclass held on Saturdays and hosted by head barman Stefano Marchetto. During the class, guests will learn to make the classic version of two of their favourite cocktails as well as a more exotic take inspired by chef Atul Kochhar’s innovative use of ingredients – as seen in drinks such as the bar’s famous Passionfruit Chutney Martini. From a pineapple mojito to a hibiscus sour, Marchetto lets the guests in on top tips for jazzing up your cocktail party offerings with unique and interesting flavours. The bespoke classes cater to five guests for a truly personal experience.
Under the seasoned mixologist’s watchful eye, each guest is invited behind the bar to try their hand at cocktail making. The newly renovated cocktail lounge is the perfect place to practice your shaker skills, with the low lighting, dark wood and velour furnishings bringing a sense of old-school allure and eastern sophistication to the evening. After causing a stir behind the bar, guests are encouraged to sample the delights of the street food menu. It’s not hard to see how Kochhar’s modern take on Indian cuisine has earned him a Michelin star with his upmarket reinvention of classic Indian delicacies. Paying homage to traditional foods from all over the country it offers a fantastic array of sumptuous flavour – with the chef’s signature Lamb Pepper Fry and Carob Crisps a particular highlight.
A perfect hybrid between the magnificent flavours of India and modern European fine dining, Benares’ cocktail-making evening is a fantastic way to sample the delights of this West London hotspot. The elegant flair of the interior and undeniable charm of the waiting staff make this an evening to remember – just make sure you don’t forget those handy tips.
