Ruby Fang showed her artistically inspired collection at Industria Studios. Fang, who has travelled to 27 countries and draws inspiration from her trips, took an east-meets-west approach to her designs.
The collection was filled with opulent fabrics and details. Velvet dresses were adorned with sequins and sheer fabrics were decked out with beading, feathers and lace. Several of the designs were embroidered with beautiful Chinese scenes and emblems.
There was a multitude of red carpet-worthy dresses that would help any starlet stand out. The gowns tended to be long and skimmed along the models’ figures however a few had the added impact of fringe and swaths of maribou that cascaded down them, creating a dramatic look. Every dress on the runway had some sort of touch that elevated it above the basics of design.
In addition to lovely evening gowns, the collection had several figure-hugging pantsuits. These tailored garments created strong yet feminine silhouettes and the silk fabrics made them seem like anything but business basics. The deep vee in a black patterned suit jacket with a peplum detail was especially well done. These seemed to strike that balance between menswear and her girlier designs.
This heavily embellished collection was a stunning success. Fang managed to provide balance to her more decadent pieces, with the tailored ones showing just enough restraint to keep the collection interesting and elegant.
