Band of Outsiders autumn/winter 2019 collection presentation for LFWM
For Autumn/Winter 2019, Band of Outsider’s Creative Director Angelo Van Mol looked at recent biopic First Man. Instead of focusing on the moon landing itself, Angelo turned to the people watching it happen. The collection therefore captured the nostalgic look and feel of the late 60s as it headed towards the 70s. Warm, rusty hues of claret, burnt orange and olive brown plush corduroy were an instant sign of the times, yet were balanced out with camel, charcoal and navy.
The brand also made its debut in womenswear for the first time. These looks were distinctly influenced by the era’s aesthetic: pony skin and heritage check wools were combined in blazer and mini skirt co-ords. Corduroy suits and placement print chiffon dresses sat alongside classic blue and brown denim, as well as a range of plain, striped and printed cotton shirts. A capsule collection that successfully referenced its source of inspiration.
