New Year’s resolution ideas for 2019
It’s the same every New Year, we open our eyes on the first of January with a sense of promise and enthusiasm only to be swiftly reminded on Monday morning that although it’s a New Year, our lives haven’t miraculously changed overnight. We still have to work. We still have to pay bills. We still have to complete all of those day to day chores that, seemingly, exist solely to devour our time and quash our dreams of bettering ourselves! That being said, the inability to persevere without resolutions for much more than a week needn’t be a yearly ritual. Here are some inspired New Year’s resolution ideas you can actually stick to and fit in with your busy lifestyle!
Make night-time lists
As we all know from experience, a great night’s sleep before a super busy day makes things run a lot smoother. Nothing is more likely to have you laying awake at night than relentlessly fretting over tomorrow’s to-do. So, leave a notepad next to your bed and take five minutes to write down everything you have to get done before you switch off the light. Clearing your mind will allow you to drift off much easier.
Take the stairs
It’ll take up little to no time to switch from taking the elevator to taking the stairs, but this small adjustment will make a big difference to your health and well being!
Make playlists
Most of us have a favourite song, album or artist. Compile a few lists of feel good songs that you truly love for whenever you’re having a motivation lull. This is great for early mornings, inspiration to exercise or to play indecently loud when you’re cleaning the house!
Bid farewell to plastic bottles
There are a million different styles and sizes of reusable water bottles on the market these days. Therefore, there’s really no excuse or reason to keep using disposable ones. Spend a few pounds on one that you really love and that fits in your handbag. You’ll be adequately hydrated whilst doing a great thing for the environment!
Love yourself
We are relentlessly hard on ourselves to be “perfect” these days. In truth however, we are all fantastic as we are and we absolutely should remind ourselves of that as often as humanly possible. Write yourself a list of at least three things you love about yourself or are proud of accomplishing at the end of every week. Even if it’s something really tiny, celebrate your fabulous-ness!
