Paula Knorr autumn/winter 2019 collection presentation for LFW

Paula Knorr lifted our spirits tonight at the Strand with her modern, reinterpreted figures of the 80s, empowering the female body through fabrics such as Jersey and Lycra that offered comfort and freedom for movement.

In fact, the designer emphasised the liberation conferred by her evening-wear by displaying her garments in a continuous movement, with the models switching places constantly, creating an uplifting and energetic presentation.

Looking like they’ve been taken straight from Studio 54, Knorr’s figures were wearing glam glitter eyeshadows in bright shades of gold or pink, contrasted by metallic tones on the lips.

Contrasting the delicate sequins, shining velvets and fluid satins, Paula Knorr introduced “hints of sporty detailing” through the deconstruction of the tunica and palazzo pants as well as featuring sporty lurex ribbing. Similarly, rich reds and elegant wine tones were juxtaposed with bright neons and pinks, shades which were emphasised throughout LFW, remaining the designers’ favourites.

Knorr’s collection was presented against a soft, blushed metallic background, blending perfectly with the fluidity of the garments, creating a perfectly symmetrical representation of the empowered female. For this collection, the designer collaborated with Swarovski in order to complete the luxurious silk gowns and draped kaftans with adorned crystals. The collaboration also included jewellery crafted by Paula Knorr with a geometric silver shape that contrasted the gown’s oversized sequins.
