Bright and bold: Angelo Figus’ wonderful shoe collection
Slightly bizarre, bold and very bright, the Italian fashion designer Angelo Figus’ shoe collection looks like it has come from the fantasy world of Alice in Wonderland.
Just take a look at his website; it’s easy to see that we are dealing with a true creative genius with a continuous production of ideas.
Torn between his prét-à-porter fashion collection and costume work for the Opera House of Amsterdam and Tokyo, the designer takes care of art installations and very impressive cultural exhibitions, teaching at the University of Venice and managing the role of trend researcher at Pitti Filati in Florence, textile branch of Pitti Immagine.
Angelo, 35, was born in Sardinia. He attended the Faculty of Architecture in Milan and specialises in fashion design at the Royal Academy of Antwerp. In 2000 he launched his first women’s collection in Paris that immediately found the right attention of the press and buyers and the label is now distributed internationally.
His visionary gaze and his avant-garde sensitivity transformed the shoes into a delicious adventure that we all want to indulge in. Every single shoe must be the highlight of an entire outfit.
A two-toned platform sandal can be mixed with fluid palazzo pants and a chiffon long-sleeved shirt, or a white tee for a sober and minimalist effect.
A silver spool heel with ankle straps would be just perfect with a floral printed skirt to the knee and a fluorescent coloured top for a more glamorous result.
The root of his graphic inspiration comes from the typical footwear of his rural land; the traditional forms are completely updated thanks to bright glossy colours and new materials.
These shoes are a lot different to the ones we are used to; see the collection for yourself, by clicking here.
