Original recipe of the week: Get your Wimbledon smoothie on – strawberries and cream
A smoothie is the perfect breakfast. Packed full of fruit, and even sometimes veg, it can really give you a boost in the morning. So why not relax this weekend and watch Wimbledon without worrying about the extra calories that the traditional strawberries and cream can add to your court-side snack. Still fruity, creamy and delicious, a great alternative if you want to watch your waistline, as well as the tennis, and indulge in a tradition at the same time.
Serves 4
What you will need:
1 punnet of ripe strawberries
250ml low fat Greek yoghurt
2 tbsp honey
1 ripe banana
A handful of ice
A handful of lightly toasted oats
What you need to do:
- De-stem and core all of your strawberries, and cut into quarters.
- Next, add these to your food processor with the banana and yoghurt. Gently pulse to blend, and add the yoghurt, honey and ice.
- Blend again until as smooth as you like. You could also add a touch of milk to loosen it up if you like a runnier smoothie.
- Serve in chilled glasses topped with the toasted oats if you fancy, and even a sprig of fresh mint too.
