London Pleasure Gardens to get electro baptism
The mother-ship has landed (quite literally) and aboard it are a line up versatile as it is talented – Bloc 2012 is in town Friday 6th to Saturday 7th of July 2012. Stubnitz – an ex-communist fishing ship – will dock in London Pleasure Gardens for a techno extravaganza that will leave the mouth watering.
Led by the “Big Boss” Snoop Dogg, with fellow west-coast pioneer, Flying Lotus, the illuminating Amon Tobin and others including, Steve Reich and Orbital, this weekend is set to be Bloc’s finest hour yet. See full line up here.
Fret not, should Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr (Snoop Dogg), not make it through customs – which is usually the case – then Gary Numan will be on hand to pump some 80s synth-pop into his void. Take me to “whichever leader you wish” should be the cry of the festival newcomers.
Imagine Amon Tobin’s acclaimed A/V show against the backdrop of the former derelect industrial site. His intricate Foley Rooms sound pulsating around the corridors of a metal mass on water.
This is only the second event at the London Pleasure Gardens after last weekend’s successful opening. Sure to become a lauded art and music venue long after the Olympics, which was part of the reason for its creation, Bloc 2012 is sure to etch itself into the east London psyche as a cutting edge launch event.
This is Bloc 2012. All hail.
