Wild Things: Mulberry’s AW12 campaign
Evocative, ethereal and spectacularly cinematic — Mulberry’s stunning AW12 campaign transport the nostalgic viewer to an eerie wonderland reminiscent of Where the Wild Things Are. Mulberry’s Creative Director Emma Hill was inspired by the cult children’s book and her “visions of explorers, dark fairytales and fantasy travels” aided the concept.
The campaign’s Art Director, Ronnie Cooke Newhouse, explained that the campaign is “an interpretation of dreams and fears. It’s very Mulberry — always iconic, ironic and a little bit naughty.”
Model Lindsey Wixson is the new Mulberry girl, beautifully captured by renowned Brit photographer Tim Walker in this season’s collection. Shot on location on Blackheath Common, Surrey, Lindsey models the collection while surrounded by huge furry forest creatures “in a mysterious new world”.
Lindsey Wixson is currently hailed as one of the modelling world’s biggest rising stars — the teen from Kansas has walked for the likes of Rodarte, Zac Posen and Gaultier as well as featured in campaigns for Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Versace and, of course, Mulberry.
The Mulberry AW12 catwalk show was held in February during London Fashion Week at Claridge’s, with fashionistas such as Alexa Chung, Michelle Williams and Lana del Rey amongst those in the front row. Del Rey was in the spotlight, as she sported her namesake Mulberry handbag, which debuts this season.
