The Rasmus at the Forum
Scandinavia has long been producing some of the world’s freshest rock bands, from heavyweights Lordi to the likes of the Hellacopters and the Hives. The Rasmus reaffirm their rightful place in this Nordic tradition as they take to the stage in Kentish Town.
The Finish four-piece are in the midst of a special tour performing their breakthrough album, 2004’s Dead Letters. The group’s alternative sound has a nostalgic feel but remains sharp, the iconic chorus and bass riff of hit single In the Shadows a clear highlight of the set, along the passionate F-F-F-Falling. Frontman Lauri Ylönen is on fire tonight and the Forum responds with great excitement.
The ensemble are also keen to please the crowd though, and perform a whole host of fan favourites, from atmospheric and vocally rich acoustic versions of Sail Away and No Fear (Hide from the Sun) – which were a more gentle departure from the originals – to a long-awaited rendition of popular number Livin’ in a World Without You (Black Roses).
A fitting encore of early track Last Waltz brings this perfectly-selected setlist to a close and leaves a wistful audience well and truly satisfied.
