All you need is a gingham blanket, packed food, and cold drinks, and you are good to go. Check out these sweet spots for your next picnic.
Kew gardens
Kew Gardens houses some of the coolest picnic pitches in London. While you have to pay to enjoy the serene picnic spots, it will be all worth it in the end. There are so many impressive and rare plants. Once you are in, look for one of the picnic benches and enjoy the breath-taking scenery. While there enjoy street food with an English twist. If you love taking care of the environment, you will be pleased to know that Kew is super green and has already banned the use of single-use plastic.
Primrose Hill
Primrose Hill is a popular spot for people who want to run away from the hassle of the city. It offers incredible views across London – the views get better the higher up the hill you climb. At the peak of Primrose Hill, you will be walking distance from Regent’s Canal, London Zoo, Camden, and Abbey Road. Delis and cafes line up the streets to give you your fill. m
Soho Square
Soho Square is the place to go during a 1-hour lunch break. While the park is small, it is an exciting place to cool your heels after a stressful day at the office. It offers you a lusher experience than you might expect from a square in central. When the weather is hot, it might be challenging to find a spot to sit, but if you can find shade somewhere, you will be enjoying the relaxing breeze that sweeps over the square. You can also enjoy time at the hut in the middle of the park.
Hampstead Heath
Most Londoners go to the Heath whenever they need to unwind after a long day at work or when the weather unbearably heats up. It is one of the coolest spots in North London. While there, you will enjoy scenic city views, lush plant life, rolling meadows, and anything else London has to offer. The Heath is large and has enough room for everyone, but for the best views of the city, walk to the summit of Parliament Hill.
Alexandra Palace Park
The hall makes Alexandra Palace Park great, but this is not all it has to offer. While the palace is more popular as a music venue, there are serene grounds where you can enjoy a picnic alone or with others. To enjoy panoramic views, climb up to the peak of the hill. You only need to spread your blanket at the top of the hill with your back facing Ally Pally.
Holland Park
Holland Park is a sweet spot when you need silence and serenity. Most Londoners will go to the neighbouring Kensington Palace Gardens and leave the picturesque Holland Park. While there, you will enjoy a lot from wildlife and woodland to Kyoto gardens and sculptures. There are also football pitches, golf lawns, and tennis courts for added fun. Holland Park is ideal if you have kids.
Furnival Gardens
This is not a large park but a thin strip of lush greenery on one side of Thames. Here, you can enjoy the sight of boats bobbing along the Thames as the sun hits your skin. To get the best view of Thames, sit on one of the benches on the Lower Mall. On evenings when you are bored, you can grill a few cuts of beef on your built to last grill and enjoy a sweet meal along the Thames. Plus, you do not have to enjoy the grilled beef alone.
Victoria Park
Victoria Park is common as ‘the people’s park.’ It is a spacious eating spot located in the East of London. In the park, there are two lakes, a boating pond, a playground, Chinese pagoda, and Insta-worthy places.
More parks
There are many more parks in London where you can have a relaxing time. The famous Hyde Park, Green Park, St James Park, Highbury Park and many more are cool spots to enjoy an afternoon.
