What to do during the lockdown: Games, online courses and new skills
The lockdown has hit everyone hard. It’s not just the prospect of not being able to work that’s so difficult to deal with, it’s the mental health struggles that come with it. That’s why finding a way to occupy the mind is so important. By keeping themselves busy, someone will be able to get through the toughest moments of lockdown with much more ease. So, what can be done to keep the lockdown blues at bay?
Here’s a list of the best ways that someone’s time can be used time during lockdowns.
Enjoy a video game console
By getting older someone might find that they don’t have as much time to enjoy playing video games as they used to. Well, the lockdown has given everyone the chance to enjoy video game consoles again. No more having to just play for an hour once a week, it’s possible to play whenever someone likes now. Just load up every favourite game and you can be enjoying yourself just like in the teen years again. It also means that you will be able to socialise with your friends still. While it’s just in a virtual setting, it’s still a great way to keep in touch with your friends. Of course, if you win too often they might not want to play with you anymore, so make sure that you don’t dominate too much. The same goes for online casino games: this industry is growing like few others, especially with the gaming halls closed due to the global pandemic. Among these, some online casinos that offer no deposit bonuses have becomes the most popular.
Take up exercise
Most places that have put lockdown in place have exercise allowances. While it might be more strict based on some local lockdowns, the general consensus is that people are allowed to exercise. So, if you’ve been putting on the pounds a little bit over the last 12 months, take this as an opportunity to get back into shape. You might not be able to go to the gym, but there’s nothing stopping you from getting out to your local park or going for a run around your town. You can even meet up with one person from another household if it’s outdoors. You could play frisbee or even just kick a football to each other. Anything that gives you some fresh air and helps to work up a sweat.
Learn a new skill
This doesn’t have to be something that will help someone with their job, it could just be a new hobby that you want to take up. So something like learning an instrument would be a great way to take up your tie during lockdown. There are plenty of resources online so just get a cheap instrument and start learning. You’d be surprised how quickly you can pick it up and before you know it you’ll be smashing out passable cover versions of your favourite songs. Just remember to think about your neighbours and don’t give them saxophone concerts at 2am.
Try an online course
There are a huge amount of online courses available to people now. There are both free courses and paid courses available, so no matter what your budget, you’ll have access to courses. You can do anything from learning new skills to improving old ones. This is slightly linked to the previous one, but this is a more focused way of doing it as a course will have deadlines and work that you have to hand in. From here you will be able to easily improve your qualifications and make yourself even more employable, something that could be important depending on how the lockdown ends. Generally speaking the paid courses will offer better levels of qualifications, but they can still get some great certificates that will enhance the CV from a free course site.
