Persian Lessons: Exclusive new clip
A remarkable survival story of a young Jewish man in a German concentration camp by the Ukrainian filmmaker Vadim Perelman, Persian Lessons features a notable performance from Nahuel Pérez Biscayart (120 BPM) as Gilles. When the protagonist narrowly avoids death by pretending to be Persian, he must then teach one of the camp’s officers (Lars Eidinger) Farsi so that he can open a restaurant in Tehran after the war. Gilles – not knowing the language himself – must invent an entire vernacular to guarantee that his cover isn’t blown while suspicion grows among his captors.
One of the first hidden gems of cinema to be released this year, Persian Lessons visualises a gripping, heartfelt story carried by the strong talent of Biscayart and Eidinger.
