Delicious Chinese New Year deliveries to welcome in the year of the Ox
If your year has already taken a bit of a downturn, do not fear, for Chinese New Year is just around the corner – and with it comes a fresh start and the promise of fortune to come. The 12th February marks the beginning of the Year of the Ox, and while there may not be dancing in the streets or dazzling firework displays, we can still pay homage to this hardworking beast by indulging in a festive spread from the safety of our homes. Though limited edition menus are selling out fast, we’ve scoured the capital for some of the best food still available for delivery.
Park Chinois
Mayfair’s Park Chinois at Home is offering exquisite set menus from 9th to 16th February, so you can mark the arrival of the new Lunar year in style. The luxurious spreads from executive chef Lee Che Liang feature a selection of unique dishes designed for the traditional occasion, with starters including of Chinese New Year Lo Hei Salad, packed with colourful strands of vegetables and fresh raw fish slices, mains such as Stir-Fried Australian Wagyu Beef and Taro Yam; and a sweet finale of Chinese New Year Gold-Leafed Tarts. Yauathcha
Yauatcha are bringing the festivities to doors across London this year with an exclusive Year of the Ox menu, limited edition bottled cocktail and incredible Firecracker desserts, meticulously crafted to look deceptively like their namesake. Priced at £68 per person, the selection is dedicated to this honest and industrious animal, with dishes including the Oxtail Siu, made from sweet, succulent oxtail in flaky pastry. They are also offering up their brand new Taiwanese Pineapple Pastries, filled with caramelised pineapple jam and perfect to send as a gift. All items are available to order on Deliveroo.
Hakkasan
Acclaimed Mayfair restaurant Hakkasan celebrates the Year of the Ox with an extravagent menu, available to order for an extended period from 1st to 28th February. This sharing feast includes the Celebration Garden, an authentic Cantonese salad; Double Treasure Fortune, comprising of a delicate quail blossom puff and seafood jade dumpling; main dishes of Crispy Kumquat Chicken and Brown Butter and Black Bean Scallop; side dishes of Abalone Fried Rice and Broccolini with Shimeji Mushroom; and a dessert of Mandarin and White Chocolate, topped off with gold leaf and mandarin gel. La Durée
For Chinese New Year with a twist, you could finish off your classic feast with a decadent dessert. La Durée, the French patisserie best-known for their double-decker macarons, is offering up a special box of beautifully crafted gold chocolate and raspberry ox-printed macarons. These elegant yet sweets may not be the classic Chinese street snack, but this is what makes them ideal for those who want to try something a little different on a year that has defied all conventions. Restaurant A Wong x Gordon Cheung Studios art installation
Recently crowned a two-michelin-star restaurant, A Wong has decided to offer an alternative way to celebrate the Chinese new year. Customers can enjoy for free an interactive art installation designed in partnership with Gordon Cheung Studios for Rémy Martin. This public artwork is a vinyl mural wrapped around the restaurant’s newly installed terrace. And with the use of a QR code, and the “Year of the Ox” app, the artwork will come to life. This new augmented-reality work will be unveiled on 11th February.
