Five high-rise restaurants with food that threatens to outshine the view
There’s one thing better than a great meal, and that’s a great meal with a view. We’ve rounded up a few of our favourite sky-high options for dining across the capital so that you can enjoy some of the city’s best food whilst also taking in its iconic skyline. City Social
This Michelin-starred spot achieves something impressive: food so pretty that it distracts you from a jaw-dropping view of the city skyline. Operated by Jason Atherton, with a menu curated by executive chef Tomas Lidakevicius, the restaurant delivers on all fronts, with refined dishes made from the best British produce that taste just as good as they look. Fenchurch Restaurant
Fenchurch, the refined dining restaurant located in the clouds at level 37 of Sky Garden, has launched a new innovative à la carte menu from recently appointed Head Chef, Michael Carr, characterised by playful presentation and explosive flavours. Embark on your culinary journey from 6th October with delicious starters such as Loch Fyne hot smoked salmon, oyster emulsion, watercress dressing, followed by perfectly plated mains and beautiful desserts including tiramisu with dark chocolate and mascarpone. Galvin at Windows
It’s not obvious when you arrive at the Hilton what wonders await at the 28th Floor. We recommend you start with a cocktail at 10 Degrees, the adjoining bar, which shakes up an innovative menu with a stunning backdrop. Then take a seat at Galvin at Windows, where you can choose from a contemporary a la carte menu of five and seven-course tasting options by new head chef Marc Hardiman. Oblix at the Shard
The Shard has always been a top destination for the Instagram obssessed, but Oblix has as much substance as it has style. The restaurant reopened back in May with a new cocktail menu, available within their cocktail bar and lounge, Oblix East. Executive chef Marcus Eaves has also refreshed the Afternoon Tea and the Oblix Easy set menu to include a selection of seasonally inspired dishes including Spicy Lobster and Crab Linguini, Chilli, Garlic and Lemon. Searcys at the Gherkin
Searcys Helix restaurant at The Gherkin is another great option for sky-high contemporary all-day dining, offering stunning views across the city form inside one of its best-loved landmarks. Decimo
Decimo might not technically be high-rise (it’s located on the tenth floor of the Standard London Hotel in King’s Cross), but it reaches the same heights thanks to a memorable menu courtesy of acclaimed Michelin-starred chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias. The Spanish cook merges his heritage with a love of Mexico to create mouth-watering dishes including favourite such as tacos, gambas rojas, and he even serves up a Saturday brunch menu featuring Huevos a la Flamenca or flamenco eggs.
